• From Monday 12 April, our climbing wall will once again reopening. For details on booking times available, please refer to the Brookes Sport app.


    Each session will be limited to 50 climbers based on social distancing guidelines, and can be booked via the Brookes Sport app or the website.


    Due to limited numbers in the climbing wall, ALL climbers regardless of age will need to be registered and accounted for; this includes children who have not been required to register in the past.  Please click here to register and do not forget to click on the link to complete the climbing participation form at the end of the registration process.


    Please note that due to the reduction in weekday opening hours, we have extended our off peak membership to include weekend climbing. This will be reviewed further should our operating hours change.


    If you are either


    • An existing adult climbing member and unable to book onto a session, your climbing participation may have expired during the lockdown period. To renew this, please click here and please allow 24 hours for this to be processed by our admin team.
    • An existing child member (has booked into NICAS/Rock Stars/Junior open sessions) you are now required to complete the climbing participation form too. Please click here to do so.


    Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your pre-booked session, ready to climb as our changing facilities will remain closed until further notice.

    Upon entry. all visitors must use the hand sanitiser located at the entrance to the building. Once inside, please observe the social distancing guidance as per the notices displayed at the centre.

    Liquid Chalk and Chalk Balls Only

    To reduce the dust content in the facility, loose powdered chalk is not permitted at present.  Chalk balls are permitted when stored in a chalk bag but please limit use to keep dust to a minimum.  Liquid chalk alcohol content could also help to improve hygiene in between hand washes.

    To further improve the air quality in the main bouldering room, we have two HEPA 14 MaxVac air scrubbers and a MaxVac extractor fan.



    As of Monday 26 July, Brookes Climb will recommence instructed lessons and courses.


    To book open sessions and classes, all climbers (including children) must be a registered member of Brookes Sport. To register, click here, and can be booked via the Brookes Sport app or our website. (Courses can only be booked via the website.)


    Private lessons, youth groups, school groups, and birthday parties can be booked by emailing climb@brookes.ac.uk

    Direct Debits & Annual Subscriptions

    Many of our members had a Direct Debit taken at the start of January.  This payment will of course be carried over, and the next Direct Debit payment will be processed on 1st June providing you with 7 weeks of access before the next payment is due.  Annual members will have their subscription end dates extended as well as the same complimentary gesture given to our Direct Debit customers.
    If you are not ready to return, you may freeze your membership by emailing sportsmembership@brookes.ac.uk quoting your member ID (which you can find on previous communications).  If you would prefer to cancel your membership you may do this by simply cancelling your Direct Debit with your bank.  We will be notified through the BACS notification process.

    Online security settings - update

    We would like all of our customers to book and pay using our online solutions.    We've upgraded the password security levels and have now replaced the use of pin numbers with a password.  This password will need to be reset before using the app or ‘Book Online' and you will be prompted to do this, although App users will need to log out first’.  Whilst updating your password, we would be grateful if you could check that your email address is correct and update it accordingly. Brookes students and staff are advised to use their Brookes email account.  We have also set up communication campaigns where you can opt in to marketing which is relevant to you.  All of this can be done via the 'Book Online' portal by clicking on the ‘My account’ button at the top right of the screen. For guidance click on the help section.

    By ensuring your information is up to date allows us to manage your records effectively, ensuring data held is current, as well as enabling efficient communication of important information to you.

    All bookings are required to be made in advance using either our online booking system or via the Brookes Sport App (for Apple, for Android).

    This will require your password & email address registered to your Brookes Sport account.

    Existing adult climbing members who are unable to book onto a session may be requireded to resubmit their Climbing Participation Agreement.

  • Climbing

    Brookes Climb, based at Brookes Sport Headington, is Oxfordshire's premier climbing wall.

    As well as being available to all Brookes students and staff, it is also open to the public, and is home to a strong local community of climbers.

    We offer a range of training course, coaching and qualifications or you can simply casual climb on our three bouldering sections including our top out boulder (150+ blocs Vb-V8+), leading and top roped area (34 lines F4-7c+).   

    We also offer group sessions ideal for schools, youth groups, team building and parties for both children and adults.
