Brookes Sport | Clubs
At Oxford Brookes Sport & Active Wellness, we're committed to helping students discover opportunities to stay active, develop new skills and continue participating in the sports they love.
Alongside our recognised Oxford Brookes sports clubs, our Affiliation Scheme connects students with selected Oxford University clubs and local community sports organisations that complement our existing offer and provide additional opportunities across Oxford.
Affiliated organisations are independent and are not official Oxford Brookes University sports clubs. Each organisation manages its own membership, fees, coaching, governance and day-to-day activities.
Why join an Affiliate Club?
Affiliated organisations can provide:
- Sports not currently offered at Oxford Brookes
- Additional participation and competition opportunities
- Specialist coaching and performance pathways
- Opportunities to continue participating in your sport while studying
- Connections with the wider Oxford sporting community
Joining an affiliated organisation does not automatically make you eligible to represent them in university competitions such as BUCS. Eligibility is determined by the relevant competition and National Governing Body regulations. If competing while studying at Oxford Brookes is important to you, please contact sport@brookes.ac.uk before joining.
Current Affiliate Clubs
There are currently no approved affiliated organisations for the 2026/27 academic year.
Approved organisations will be listed here once applications have been reviewed.
Become an Affiliate Club
We're interested in hearing from organisations that can enhance the sporting opportunities available to Oxford Brookes students and complement our existing offer.
We offer two types of affiliation:
- Oxford University Club Affiliation: £100 per academic year
- Local Community Club Partnership: £300 per academic year
Affiliated organisations receive:
- One exhibition space at the Sport & Active Wellness Fair
- A listing on the Oxford Brookes Sport & Active Wellness website
- Signposting from Sport & Active Wellness staff where appropriate
- Inclusion in relevant Open Day materials
- Opportunities to collaborate on taster sessions and widening participation initiatives, subject to approval
Affiliation does not guarantee student recruitment, exclusive promotion, social media coverage, free or discounted facility hire, access to student data or recognition as an official Oxford Brookes University sports club.
Applications are welcomed from organisations that complement the Oxford Brookes sporting offer and can demonstrate appropriate standards of governance, safeguarding and insurance. Organisations offering sports already provided at Oxford Brookes will not normally be approved unless there is a clear additional benefit for our students.
Affiliation is granted for one academic year and is reviewed annually.

We always welcome conversations with students who are interested in establishing a new Student Sports Club.
If you want to discuss more, please email sport@brookes.ac.uk. If you’re hoping to compete in a BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) competition for a sport we don't have a club for, please get in touch well in advance, as BUCS entry deadlines apply.
