Membership FAQs

Using the gym or climbing wall without a membership

Register for an account via our Join Portal by selecting “Brookes Sport Registration”
Gym and climb entries can only be purchased at reception, online booking is not available for these activities
Climbing only: You must complete the Climbing Participation Agreement before you're allowed to climb

Booking other activities

Most other PAYG activities (like fitness classes, court or pitch bookings) can be booked and paid for through our BrookesSport app (Android or iOS) or Book Online portal(bookings will be cancelled if not paid for within 20 minutes)

Hoppers: these are a brilliant, affordable way to buy multiple sessions, without the commitment of an annual or monthly membership. Hoppers are valid for 12 months and can be purchased online and at our reception.

Group Gym Inductions are open to everyone and bookable each week via the BrookesSport app (Android or iOS).

All gym users must be at least 16 years old. Those aged 16-17 must complete a mandatory gym induction before using the facilities. A parent or guardian must also submit the U18 Liability Disclaimer for Gym Facilities Usage Consent Form. Inductions require a trained staff member and may not be available on your first visit. Please talk to reception or email brookesactive@brookes.ac.uk to book. Users under 18 can use weights up to 15kg only.

Off-Peak members can access the gym during Peak times for £6 per session. Partner Club members can also access the gym for £6 per session.

For fitness classes, bookings can be made via the BrookesSport app (Android or iOS) or through our online booking portal. PAYG users can book up to 7 days in advance, while Direct Debit, Annual and Monthly members benefit from priority booking of up to 14 days in advance. Hopper customers are classified as PAYG users and can therefore book up to 7 days in advance.

Off-Peak Fitness Classes are classes before 3.00pm on weekdays only. Please note that this does not include our Learn to Lift fitness class due to the small class format.

All users of the Brookes Climb Centre must complete the Climbing Participation Agreement, prior to attending.

Day Passes are available only from reception, subject to space availability. The Day Pass grants you all-day access to our Climbing Centre during opening hours.

A registered adult climber can supervise a maximum of two under 18s. Under 18s must also be registered and have completed the Climbing Participation Agreement, prior to attending.

Off-Peak members and Fitness members can access the climbing wall during Peak times for £6 per session.

The Headington Sports Hall is able to accommodate Basketball, Volleyball, Indoor Football, Netball, etc. The Synthetic Turf Pitch is for outdoor activities such as Hockey, small-sided Football, Lacrosse training, etc.

*Off-peak only. Otherwise, the rate is £200 for 5 pitches. Off-peak hours are before 3.00pm on weekdays and all day on weekends.

Casual bookings for some of our Headington facilities can be made via the BrookesSport app (Android or iOS) or through our Book Online portal. Headington facilities can be booked up to 7 days in advance.
