For most undergraduate students, the academic year is split into two semesters. Each semester consists of a teaching period followed by examinations.
The enrolment and induction week in Semester 1 is for first year students only. Undergraduate students must:
Students on other programmes (including taught postgraduate programmes, and undergraduate programmes in the School of Education which run to a termly calendar) may have similar commitments to those described in these calendars. You should contact your Faculty for more information, including the confirmed schedule of examinations for your programme.
Courses that have a significant practice component may fall outside of normal semester dates.

For students on Postgraduate Taught programmes (PGT), the teaching element of the academic year is split into two semesters with the dissertation module undertaken during the summer semester. Semesters 1 and 2 consist of a teaching period followed by examinations.
The enrolment and induction is carried out in the first week of Semester 1 for September starters and where appropriate the first week of Semester 2 for January starters. Students must:
