We are looking forward to welcoming our new international students from across the world in September 2026.

We recognise that coming to study in the UK is exciting but can be daunting too. Don't worry, there will be plenty of support in place to help you settle into life at Oxford Brookes University. This page will introduce you to some of the key things you need to know.

Visas and immigration

In order to study your course at Oxford Brookes, some international students will need to have a Student visa.

To apply for a Student visa, you will need a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies, known as a CAS. You can find more information about the CAS application process on the starting a new course page. The Applicant Compliance Team will issue your CAS. Once you receive it, you should apply for your visa as soon as possible so you can arrive for the start of semester. To contact the team:

As soon as you receive your visa and book your flight or accommodation, please log in to CAS Shield and ensure your latest stage is updated, along with uploading any relevant travel documents. This step is important as it helps ensure we have the most up-to-date information, allows teams to support students effectively, and helps with planning for your arrival.

Please note: all students need to complete our online enrolment process. If you are not a UK national, part of online enrolment will include a Right to Study check, whether or not you need a Student visa. Please check back here after Thursday 6 August 2026 to find out how to complete these checks.

International Student Advice Team (ISAT)

We have a dedicated team to support all our international students. ISAT provides lots of resources before you arrive and a wide range of welcome activities for when you get here.

ISAT can help you with lots of aspects of life at university. Whether you want to know about social activities and meeting others, or practical tasks like opening a bank account, registering for medical care or just picking up a SIM card, they would be pleased to advise you.

Meet and Greet Service

The International Student Advice Team has organised a Meet and Greet Service to help you to get to your Brookes Accommodation. There will be a meeting point just outside the Headington campus near the Airline bus stop. The team will greet you and help you get the right transport to your accommodation.

  • Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September 2026
  • 9:00am - 5:00pm

Prepare to travel to Oxford

ISAT can offer you advice both on travelling to the UK and on getting to Oxford from major UK airports.

Join the WhatsApp community

Sign up to the ISAT WhatsApp community for updates and announcements from the team. You can also join the September 2026 group and chat to other new students.

Attend an online workshop

There are lots of useful online workshops running over the summer including many run by ISAT. You can view the full list of events on our calendar.

Induction Week

Every course has planned a schedule of events for Induction Week (Monday 14 - Friday 18 September). These events are mandatory - all students are expected to attend them. You will be able to view your course induction schedule from Friday 28 August onwards.

Although not all courses will have activities on all five days of Induction Week, we still advise you to be in the UK for the whole week. If you have days without any sessions there will be lots of useful optional events that you can attend instead if you wish.

Most student choose to arrive during the weekend before Induction Week, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September, which is known as Welcome Weekend. There will be a number of events and activities this weekend, including welcome sessions on the Sunday for international students and exchange students.

If you think you will miss some or all of Induction Week due to your travel plans, please email the Student Induction Team at induction@brookes.ac.uk and let us know your expected arrival date. We will inform your faculty so that they can help you catch up.

All students must arrive in Oxford and be fully enrolled by Friday 2 October 2026 at the latest. If you have any concerns about your expected arrival date, please send an email to isat@brookes.ac.uk and induction@brookes.ac.uk for advice.

Optional events

There will be lots of other events, workshops and fairs that you can attend in Induction Week. You can go to as many as you like as long as they don't clash with your course induction. We recommend the following:

  • The welcome briefing for all international students
  • The afternoon workshops covering useful topics including UK culture, money and part-time work
  • Campus tours
  • Oxford city tours

You'll be able to view the full calendar of events from Friday 28 August 2026. We will also include a guide to the events specifically for international students.

Exchange and study abroad students

The Global Engagement Team offers support and advice to exchange and study abroad students at Oxford Brookes. Make sure to attend their Welcome Briefing session on Sunday 13 September where you will:

  • learn more about studying at Oxford Brookes
  • find out how to get help if you need it
  • meet other exchange and study abroad students.

You can also attend the welcome sessions and workshops for all international students if you would like to do so.
