Late arrivals

What to do if you will arrive in Oxford after Induction Week

We understand that some students may not be able to arrive in Oxford in time for Induction Week. If you will be arriving late, please follow the steps on this page. If you need any help, the Student Induction Team will be happy to advise you.

Please note that all students need to be fully enrolled and ready to study by the enrolment deadlines:

  • Full-time students: Friday 6 February 2026
  • Part-time students: Friday 13 February 2026

If you are an international student and you think you might not arrive by your deadline, please contact the International Student Advice Team as soon as possible for advice.

Attending classes

Please start attending your classes once you have arrived, even if you haven't completed all the below tasks yet. It's important to record your attendance at each class. If you don't know where or when your classes are, please speak to your course team or the Student Induction Team for advice.

The key things you need to do

1. Complete your online enrolment

If you haven't already enrolled as a student, please do so as soon as you can. Enrolling will give you access to other systems such as your University email and calendar, online study platforms like Moodle, and Eduroam WiFi.

2. Complete Right to Study checks

If you are not a UK national, you will need to complete Right to Study checks. You can read about how to complete these checks on the Right to Study page.

3. Access your email and calendar

About an hour after you enrol, you will be able to sign in and view your email and calendar (excluding any modules you haven't yet registered for). If you need help with your calendar please contact your course team or the Student Induction Team.

4. Contact your course team

You will need to let your course team know you have arrived. They will help you catch up on anything you've missed and register for optional modules if applicable. You can find their contact details at the bottom of your course's induction schedule or you can ask the Student Induction Team for them.

5. Collect your student card

Once you have enrolled, a student ID card will be made for you. This usually takes about a week. We will email you when it is ready to collect. Please don't come to collect your card until you receive this email.

Opening a bank account

If you are an international student and you need to open a bank account, you will need an attendance letter to prove that you are a student. You can request this letter yourself via your Student Information Portal. Please note that you must meet all the following criteria in order to get an Attendance Certificate:

  • You must be fully enrolled;
  • Your Right to Study checks must be fully complete;
  • Your term time address must be correct and up to date on the Student Information Portal;
  • If you live in Oxford Brookes accommodation, you must have checked in and collected your keys at least 24 hours ago.

If you have done all of the above then you can request the letter online and it will be ready to download or print within one day.
