This scholarship is for individuals seeking asylum and those who have a form of protection from an asylum claim, who are not able to access government student finance.
In 2022/23 entry there will be two scholarships available which will include:
- A full fee waiver (you do not need to pay fees).
- A cash bursary of £4,000.
- Financial support equivalent to £8,000 towards accommodation. Those living in halls of residence will automatically receive this support; those in private accommodation will be required to provide proof of living costs as detailed in the terms and conditions of the scholarship.
- Guaranteed accommodation in University halls of residence for 52 weeks per year.
Support
We provide all our students with a wide range of services dedicated to helping you stay both physically and mentally healthy. Our services include:
- Counselling,
- Disability services,
- Mutlifaith Chaplaincy,
- Dyslexia/SpLD services.
If you successfully receive a scholarship, you will also have a named contact to support you throughout the course of your study.
Scholars will also receive additional support from the Centre for Academic Development. In addition to the regular service available to all students (bookable one-to-one learning development; academic English modules) scholars would be offered:

Three, one hour one-to-ones with the named contact over the first few weeks of Semester 1.
- Welcome, study survival guide, assessment of needs.
- Familiarisation with Google suite and Moodle. Time planning to meet the demands of the semester ahead.
- Planning for the specific demands of the coming assignments.

If relevant, one hour with an Academic English tutor to assess need, plan how the student can develop their academic English, and guide them regarding Academic English modules.

The option to request an Academic English tutor for a one-to-one if needed.
